Capstone Projects

What is it?

Each WBA Institute Cadet will develop and ship a capstone project as part of the certification process. These projects, built during the course, are essentially PoCs or MVPs for projects that are intended to be further developed into mainnet blockchain solutions.

During the capstone defense process, cadets will present their work to a panel of industry experts who will guide, and potentially incubate projects and/or hire cadets from this process.

How do I choose what to work on?

Simply put, something you are passionate about! What draws you to Web3? Do you like NFTs? DeFi? DAO Tooling? We recommend choosing a project that aligns with what your interests are. If you're really stuck, we will have a list of projects that can be chosen that either address WBA needs, partner ecosystem needs, or general impact tools for Web3.

You must complete your Capstone in order to receive certification from the WBA. We will manage this with you throughout the submission process but make sure you scope your project with the time available to you.

Timing

You will be expected to submit your Capstone project by the end of the 3rd week of class (Cluster 2). If an extension is required, alert your instructors in writing, outlining the reason and the remediation plan.

Proposal & Defense Process

You will be formally submitting your project ideas in the course section of this GitBook titled Capstone Proposal. The WBA Capstone review committee will review all submitted proposals within 48 hours and either accept, or send back for revisions.

After the 8 week classroom sessions have ended, a Capstone defense appointment shall be scheduled with the review committee and be granted on a first come, first serve basis. At this point in time, your project shall be at minimum a PoC, ideally a MVP close to ready. All documentation shall be completed and in a publishable format and submitted to the board at least 4 days in advance.

Within 48 hours of a completed Capstone defense, you will receive notification of one of three outcomes:

1) Capstone shall be considered ACCEPTED

2) Capstone ACCEPTED with CONDITIONS (these conditions shall be discussed during your review and timelines determined for completion)

3) Capstone NOT ACCEPTED (Significant revision required, clear requirements for resubmission and feedback will be shared during this period)

What happens when my project is ACCEPTED?

Upon ACCEPTANCE of your Capstone project, and all course requirements fulfilled, the Web3 Builders Alliance will grant your certification status, with additional accolades and specializations to adorn the certification. CONGRATULATIONS!
